Please Go Easy On Me

Walking through a doorway, whistling up a tune,
There's no better way to spend an afternoon.
Soles feeling itchy, lead me to the bar.
Mouth so dry, I'm glad I didn't take the car.

Now you wonder where I am.
I'm as fancy free as Peter Pan.

Jonathan appears, looking for his dad.
Shucks folks, this is the best time I've ever had.
He brings you a message with reasons and with rhymes,
A call for clemency is sealed up and signed.

Now you know where I have gone.
I'll be home before the clock strikes one.

Please go easy on me, please go easy on me,
I've got excuses as long as your arm.
Please go easy on me, it's so easy to see
That the losers have got all the charm.

Talking to a lamp post, "Please don't let me fall."
The sky's so dark that I can hardly see at all.

Now you know where I have been.
So I'm begging you don't make a scene.

Please go easy on me, please go easy on me,
I've got excuses as long as your arm.
Please go easy on me, it's so easy to see
That the losers have got all the charm.
